Apart from those who bought cheap in the 70´s and a few speculators in the last years before the Euro obliged ill-gotten gains to be laundered, most castle owners have traditionally been rich history buffs or hapless heirs who find themselves with the afore-mentioned real estate hot potato. Yet there is still a market for those who cannot resist owning a piece of history.  Majestic and magical, most castles for sale barely support the weight of time.  Some are even haunted.  There are about 6,500 castles in Spain and some 200 are for sale.
